    An abrupt list ...

    Hello,

Can anybody help me with the bolden text? I also do not know why the author used sufficiently finally; it seems strange to me ...

"An abrupt list of the hindquarters, a sickening sag in the spoine, had been sufficiently finally; but he had been terrible slashed and battered before this curdled his rage. Superb and sinister in life, he was a mortal fiend here dead: the huge black bristling shoulders, the yellow tusks, the small yellow glazed eyes. Tod ... (name of the dog)

Leonard Cline, The Dark Chamber, 1927

    Thanks

    Re: An abrupt list ...

I think there are some typos there. "Spoine" should be "spine" and "finally" should, I think, be "final".

Do you understand what the verb (and the associated noun) "list" means?

It's the bold text, not the bolden text.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    Re: An abrupt list ...

You are right; it should have been "spine" instead of "spoine"; the mistake was on my part. As for the word "list", it is OK, I have found the answer elsewhere.

Thank you for your responding to my request.
