    It is high time

    Why is this sentence correct?

    • It is high time to understand the impact of this.

I thought I had to use past tense after "it's hight time + something".

    Thank you.

    Who says it's correct?

    Where did you find it?

    Re: It is high time

I've grown up thinking that everything that is in print is correct.

I found it in this book: http://www.amazon.com/Business-Model.../dp/0470876417

This is the whole sentence: "For entrepreneurs, executives, consultants, and academics, it is high time to understand the impact of this extraordinary evolution."

    Re: It is high time

That sounds acceptable to me. The alternative is: "It's high time that entrepreneurs, executives, consultants, and academics understood the impact of this extraordinary evolution." But that separates, "It's high time" from "understand" by a lot of words and makes it harder to follow.

    Re: It is high time

So, in that case is it acceptable to say "It is high time for you to go home"?

I wouldn't object to that. But I'd personally say, "It's high time you went home."
If you leave out 'high', you see there's no problem. You can say either.
"It's time you went home"; "It's time for you to go home."

That's very alarming. Please stop thinking that at once.
