He exercises control over the legal service of the national target fund

    Hello everybody!

He exercises control over the legal service of the national special purpose fund / target fund.

I am translating a few curricula vitae of persons who hold managerial positions. One of the tasks of a certain person is to exercise control over the legal service of the national target fund.

Maybe I should translate the person's task as follows:

He supervises the legal service of the national special purpose fund / target fund.

Could you tell me if the two variants are well formulated and put me right on this if necessary?

    Thank you.

I think you have understood correctly, although I still don't really know what the candidate was trying to convey. I can say from experience that it is very difficult to control lawyers since they are experts in their field and we are not.

IMO, "exercises control" covers a much wider scope than "supervises"
It is like comparing a manager and a supervisor.
Controlling is a management role and carries greater responsibility
