For "bring out the rod", what should I say?

    Bring out the rod.
    Take out the rod.
    Pull out the rod.

    Thanks.
I would use "pull out". By "rod", do you mean the "drill bit"?

I have a degree in Geology so have some knowledge of this, Yaghoob might be using the shortened version of drilling rod, it is part of a borehole drilling rig.

    Also, retract/withdraw the rod.

The bit is a piece that joint the rod to the drilling machine.

Thanks for that information. I have only ever used a domestic electric drill so I drill the bit into the wall! I'm not very good at DIY!
