    They want 20 percent down.

    In a textbook conversation a man and a woman are talking about a house they are going to buy. The woman says: 'They want 20 percent down.' The man replies: 'That's a lot of money'. What does the woman's phrase mean?
    If I were a native speaker of English, I would never shut up. :-)
