    What is the difference between "in future" and "in the future"?

    I WOULD SAY: IN THE NEAREST FUTURE.. .AND IN FUTURE (IN GENERAL)

    Excellent examples.

    "the" is definite, so use "the future" to define when; e.g., the nearest future.
