Re: Need help in solving analogies

You seem to have discovered a way of getting us to do your homework: you take a guess at the answer and expect us to put right the wrong guesses.

It's your teacher's job to correct you if you are wrong.

Re: Need help in solving analogies

Just a small bit of coaching to encourage you to think about your answers and actually understand why you are right or wrong. (Passing your CAT/GMAT doesn't mean a thing if you don't understand the questions and answers.)

Your answer to #2 is incorrect. Consider the question: Canoe is to boat. What do a canoe and a boat have in common? How do they relate to one another? You can sit in a canoe and a boat in order to travel on the water. So a canoe and a boat are both vessels that can be used for water travel.

You said that a mast and a sail have the same relationship as a canoe and a boat. What is a mast? It is a long, sturdy pole that rises upright from a boat or ship. What is a sail? It is a large piece of cloth that is attached to the mast. It catches the wind and helps to propel the boat. Is that the same relationship as a canoe has to a boat? (You don't attach a canoe to a boat.)

Think about the logic, and choose a different answer.
