by the time, a piece of ~

    1. I've decided to master a piece of pop song regularly per month.
'a piece of pop song' is correct expression? Should I change to 'master a pop song'?

    2. By the time 20, I want to make an indie band.
'By the time 20' is correct? Should I change to 'by the time I reach(turn) 20'?

    Looking forward to hearing answer^^

    1. Yes you should change it to 'master a pop song'.

    2. Your question should be 'Is "by the time 20" correct?' No, it isn't. Say 'By the time I'm 20'.

Your last comment is unnecessary and ^^ is unacceptable as punctuation. If you want to insert a smiley, click on the icon.

May I say 'when I turn 20' instead?

Re: by the time, a piece of ~

I'd like to have an indie band by the time I'm 20.

I'd like to form an indie band when I turn 20.

    Note:
    - "Would like" is a more polite way of saying "want."
    - For "by the time", look at this: http://dictionary.cambridge.org/gram...ish-grammar/by
