Present perfect continuous + over the last

Hi! Is the usage of the present perfect continuous correct in the following sentence? I have some doubts because there is "over the last month". I would have used just the past simple.

I've been thinking what you said almost continuously over the last month.

Insert 'about' after 'thinking' and your sentence is fine.

If I used "during the last month" instead of "over the last month", would it still be fine?

Why is that correct if there is "last"? I would have used past simple tense.

'Last month' here means 'previous month'. You were doing your thinking continuously during that period of time.

Re: Present perfect continuous + over the last

Why is it that "during the last month" is odd in the following sentence?

I've been hiking in Himalayan mountains during the last month.

'Over the last month' refers to a recent period of time, so the present perfect is correct.
The simple past should be used in 'Last month I thought about what you had said', because 'last month' refers to the past.
