    understanding

    Hello,

could you help me parse this sentence:

.....that made the 1920 and 1930, look like a ladies Sunday school teacher's convention.

is that a convention held on Sundays and made of ladies who are teachers?

    Re: understanding

It's not a complete sentence. The fragment you have quoted is seriously flawed grammatically.

Please quote the complete sentence, tell us where you found it, and who wrote it.

    ***

Please note that a better title would have been Sunday school teacher's convention.

    Extract from the Posting Guidelines:

'Thread titles should include all or part of the word/phrase being discussed.'

    Re: understanding

    Hello,

sorry the sentence was rather long:

"Nations were in a state of numbness, "shell-shocked" by the radical changes forced upon them which seemed impossible to stop, in which a complete absence of female modesty reflected in learned behavioural attitudes that made the 1920's and 1930's, look like a ladies Sunday school teacher's convention."

I thought it rather looked grammatically flawed too, that's why I needed explanations.

    Not A Teacher

No it means a convention of ladies that were Sunday school teachers.
Sunday school is an institution that is normally linked to a Christian Church where children have religious instruction and other lessons. The teachers there dress in a manner suitable to such a place.

The sentence means that the women of the time they are discussing dressed and had morals that were far worse than even those of the 1920s and 1930s in America, who were considered by some to be bad enough at the time.
