    prefix : mis-

Can we combine the prefix mis- with some words that we do not find in dictionary ? I tried to write these examples :

    1. I'm sorry, I mistyped (I typed the words wrongly).
    2. My teacher misconsidered me as a bad student (He is wrong, I'm not as he has considered because I'm a good student).

The aboves aren't found in any dictionary, so can I use the prefix mis- as the examples above ?

    Re: prefix : mis-

'Mistype' does appear in dictionaries (click here and bookmark the OneLook website for future reference).

'Misconsidered' doesn't work, but many other verbs can be prefixed by 'mis'. Click here for a fairly comprehensive list — also taken from the OneLook site.

Until you are thoroughly familiar with the language, it's not a good idea to make up your own examples.

    Re: prefix : mis-

Thanks for helping me. I used collin dictionary in my mobile phone and I think it's the best dictionary, but I'm surprised when finding that the word mistype is found on online dictionary. Ok, I'll take your advice. Thanks once again.

    Re: prefix : mis-

OneLook searches hundreds of dictionaries and glossaries so it is very good at digging examples out.
