Sentence at the beginning of a cover letter "It is with great enthusiasm/interest..."

    Hi teachers!

Is it good to start a cover letter with the sentence ""It is with great enthusiasm/interest that I am writing to apply for..."? Does it sound idiomatic in English?

    Thank you very much!

It sounds a bit excessive to me.
