    Tenses in abstract

    Can anyone clarify which tenses we write when writing an abstract ? And the word "sample" referring to persons participating in research and providing needed information to a researcher is a plural or singular?

    May I suggest that you provide examples of your queries? They are not really comprehensible in the pure abstract.

    I think he's referring to the abstract of an academic paper. If I wanted to know that, I'd look at a sample of papers from the journal I was interested in.
    'Sample' is singular.

    Here's something I don't know, never having published a paper. Who writes the abstract, the authors or the editors?
