    starting with first student

Can someone please direct me towards the most useful, free resources for teaching English as a second language? I've been asked to try and help a friend and am looking for a complete, guided course to use with a beginning student. I realize that I'm asking a lot, but I really don't know where to start and would desperately like to help.

    Thanks!

Probably the best thing would be to get a basic coursebook, which lays out a path to follow, and it would be a minor investment.
