    please help me with this sentence.

    they sent me the book which was........ on the table over there
    A. laying B.lain C.lying D.lay
    i chose B but the answer is C..
    please help me point out why i was wrong
    according to me, the answer is wrong. thanks in advance

    Well, you're wrong because C is right.
    'Lain'
    is the past participle of 'lie'. If someone lays (not lies) the book on the table, it has been laid on the table. But that isn't an answer. It was lying there, not laying there, so C is the answer.
    Even though someone lay it there, it is now lying there.

    Please start your sentences with a capital letter, end them with some punctuation mark, and capitalise 'I'.
