    To be taken over

    Hi,

Could anyone please help me with the sentence below? what does "to take over" mean here?

Ten years ago, internet payments seemed to be a new and quickly expanding universe, ready to be taken over by new and fanciful payment methods.

    Thanks

    Re: To be taken over

It means "to be replaced by" or "gradually overtaken by".
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
