    The host country

    Hi there,
What does "host" here mean? I looked up in the dictionary but no meaning matches with the country. I came across this word in an essay topic. Let me type it for you.

"Some people believe that visitor of other countries should follow local customs and behavior. Others disagree and think that the host country should welcome cultural differences."

    Re: The host country

The host country is the country which is hosting the visitor, either officially or not. If you go on holiday in Thailand, then Thailand is your host country while you are there.
