    Correctly

There is an insurance company to which I sent my claim. I got paid but after sometime they recouped the money. So I called them to know why they did so. They told me that they paid that in error and payment shouldn't have been made. So the recouoment was correct.

Is it also correct to say "Recoupment was done correctly because the claim shouldn't have been paid". I want to say that it was correct to do so. Please do not give me any alternative I need to know about this sentence only, please.

    No it is not correct.
"Done correctly" describes the way (process/procedure) the recoupment was done. It does not say anything about it being valid/legitimate.
