"becoming a heavy burden to you (rather than?) a benefit"

Our sincere apologies for becoming a heavy burden to you rather than a benefit, but we are imprisoned by crippling poverty.

    Is either good, please?

    Only the first is good.

If you want to use "than", you would need to say something like "Our sincere apologies for becoming more of a burden than a benefit". You need some kind of comparison.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
