test: one of the earliest plants

One of the earliest plants domesticated in the Western Hemisphere, manioc was introduced to Europe by Spaniards returning from the New World.

It is written in my test that 'was introduced' is the wrong option, I couldn't find why.
    Thanks in advance.

Re: test: one of the earliest plants

The only error I can see in the entire sentence is the omission of a comma after "manioc".

The actual word order isn't great but it's not incomprehensible. I would have written:

Manioc, one of the earliest plants domesticated in the Western Hemisphere, was introduced to Europe by Spaniards returning from the New World.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    I can't see why it's wrong either.
