    The difference between insist and persist

    I believe that all power should go to the people,but he _______(insists,persist)that all power should go to nobody.what is the difference between insist and persist?

    What does your dictionary say? What don't you understand?
    I'm not a teacher. I speak American English. I've tutored writing at the University of Southern Maine and have done a good deal of copy editing and writing, occasionally for publication.
