The decisions we took concerning the EFSF on 21 July are thus fully operational.

    Hi there,

"The decisions we took concerning the EFSF on 21 July are thus fully operational." What does "thus" mean here? I picked up this sentence from fraze.it because I am a bit of confused about using the word "used" in sentences.

"Thus" here means, "for the reasons just given". The reasons obviously weren't given on the web page.

It should be "The decisions we made...."

Thus is certainly in your dictionary. In that sentence, it means therefore/because of that/consequently.

What does this have to do with the word used?
I'm not a teacher. I speak American English. I've tutored writing at the University of Southern Maine and have done a good deal of copy editing and writing, occasionally for publication.

One can "take decisions" in certain dialects. There's nothing wrong with the sentence.

    Hi Charlie,
Sorry! it is not "used", it is "thus". A typo mistake!
