Why is it that you can't say: I will leave to go find something.

    Why doesn't leave to work?

I will leave to go find something.

    Who said it doesn't work?
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

I thought leave had to be followed with for

You leave for a place. No?

Re: Why is it that you can't say: I will leave to go find something.

Your sentence doesn't have a place after "to" so it's a completely different construction.

I will leave to go find something = I will leave in order to go and find something.

    I will leave.
    Why will you leave?
    To go and find something.

Note that although "go find something" is used in AmE, in BrE we always say "go and find something" or "go to find something".
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
