    1) These elements shape my perception as a man.

    This could mean:
    a) These elements shape the way I perceive as a man.

    But could it also mean:
    b) These elements shape the way I am perceived as a man.

    I am not a teacher.

    I would say no.

    Your perception is the way you use your senses. Thus, my perception cannot be someone else's perception of me.
