    Comment At/Toward

    I have a question about the preposition to use with "comment":

    1. "He made comments about her."
    2. "He made comments at her."
    3. "He made comments toward her."

    "About" is definitely standard English. But what about "at" and "toward"?

    #3 is OK too. I find #2 unnatural though I'm sure someone will find a way to make it usable. #1 is, as you say, definitely OK.
    Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    @emsr2d2

    Would #3:

    3. "He made comments toward her."

    mean a) he made comments to her face-to-face or that b) he made comments about her?

    Re: Comment At/Toward

    Of course, comments about someone and comments made towards someone are different things.

    Re: Comment At/Toward

    I would say "comments to" someone.

    Like MikeNewYork, I would use to for this meaning.
