    Surveillance On/Of

I have a question about the preposition to use with a certain phrase:

    1. "Surveillance on the suspect showed that..."
    2. "Surveillance of the suspect showed that..."

Before checking Google, I was thinking that only "of" is standard English. But google searches suggest that "on" is also common. But is it standard English?

'Surveillance of' is more common. Click here.

    Re: Surveillance On/Of

    How about these:

    3. "Surveillance conducted by police on the suspect showed that..."
    4. "Surveillance conducted by police of the suspect showed that..."

Is the "on" version less common compared to the "of" version?
