    To make matters worse

    To make matters worse, the constant reminder and bickering from my ‘friends’ and next of kin made me buckle under pressure.

    Something sounds awkward in this sentence...Can't put my finger on it.

    I would use "reminders" and "buckle under the pressure".
    Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
