Question Survey for my ESL class

    Hi everyone,

I am new here and I am not sure where I should post this. I need some help with my class project. We are covering a unit about cellphone courtesy from a book titled "Consider the Issues" that requires conducting a survey. I was hoping to find some volunteers on the forum who might like to participate.

    1. Do you agree that people should avoid using their cellphones in certain settings or certain places? Why or why not?
    2. Do you think that a voluntary program that promotes cellphone courtesy would be as effective as implementing mandatory governmental law that prohibit cellphone use in specific settings? Why or why not?

I am looking forward to hearing from you guys and thank you in advance!

    ***** NOT A TEACHER *****

    No, I do not.

In my state, it is illegal to hold a cellphone in your hands while driving.

Nevertheless, many people ignore the law.

They know that many police officers ignore the law because they are busy with more serious crimes.

If the prohibition were voluntary, there would be even more scofflaws.

In Japan, they ask people not to use their mobiles in some places and they don't. In the UK they have quiet carriages on trains, but people often ignore this. It depends on the setting with voluntary programmes.
