    Position of 'before' and 'now'

    What sounds more natural?

    1. Why were you so opposed to involve James before and, however, you are in favor of it now?

    2. Why were you before so opposed to involve James, and, however, now you are in favor of it?

I think it's better #1, but I am not completely sure because my English teacher told me some years ago that I shouldn't end sentences with a preposition.

Re: Position of 'before' and 'now'

Ah, that old myth has raised its head again. There is no reason not to end a sentence with a preposition.

As far as your sentence goes, they're both unnatural.

Why were so opposed to involving James before, yet now you are in favour of it?
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
