Hi All,

I have bit confusion between below two sentences

  1. Questions were not raised on the forum last night
  2. Questions have not been raised on the forum last night

What would be the main difference. Are those both passive voice?

Thanks

Don't use the present perfect with a specific time (last night).

It's in the passive.

If you must use the passive, try "No questions were raised on the forum last night."

Shabar, no sentence is correct without a final punctuation mark.

Questions have not been raised on the forum last night

This one is wrong- we don't use the present perfect with a finished period of past time. You could use it with today/this week, etc, which have not finished.

If I say "No questions had been raised in last forum". Is that correct or it should happened for period of time in the past to use past perfect

Use the past perfect to talk about something in the past, when it took place before another event in the past.
No questions had been raised in the forum last night, so I was surprised to find so many new ones this morning.

No questions had been raised in the last town hall meeting, so we were not expecting many last Tuesday either.

No questions had been raised in the meeting last month, so we were not expecting many last Tuesday either.

'Last month' is a time marker, so is the simple past also acceptable in the first clause above?
