1) Please get the update for slide 8 from Damian ASAP.

2) Please get the updated slide 8 from Damian ASAP.

I understand both the above sentences are correct. Is the first one in active and the other in passive?

No. 'Update' is a noun and 'updated' is an adjective.

the other in passive?
I think it could not be in the passive without the verb 'to be' even if the past participle was used, but I am not a teacher.

1 tells me Damian has the information I need to make the change to slide 8 in the presentation I am preparing.

2 tells me Damian has an updated version of that slide and I need to get it and insert it in my presentation.

I live in this world. The difference is quite stark to me.

Is it possible to write both sentences in passive? If yes, what would be the passive.?

May I also say there can't be passive without "to be" verb.

I don't see any practical way to put those sentences in the passive voice. The passive voice requires some form of "to be".

I think the first clause below is in the passive, but I am not a teacher.
'Slide 8 has already been updated, so please get it from Damian ASAP.'

If I'm using update to no.2, is it wrong?

The question no.2 was used "updated" for express the meaning.
Can I use "update" instead of "updated" in no.2 question?

The question no.2 [STRIKE]was[/STRIKE] used "updated" [STRIKE]for[/STRIKE] to express the meaning.
Can I use "update" instead of "updated" in question no.2 [STRIKE]question[/STRIKE]?

No, you need an adjective (updated) there, not a verb.

tedmc,
Why can't use the passive here?
The question no.2 was used=(the question was written by someone,it couldn't write a sentence by itself).

On the other hand, thank you your revision for me. I appreciate you.

"Updated" is not used in the passive voice, it is an adjective. An updated book means a book which has been updated.

See underlined in red.
Why is the passive incorrect in my statement in red?

[STRIKE]The[/STRIKE] Question no.2(subject) was used "updated" (object) [STRIKE]for[/STRIKE] to express the meaning.

You can say:
"Updated"(object) was used in Question No.2 to express the meaning. (passive)

but not as you have written.

I consider it an imperative sentence instead of a question, but I am not a teacher.
Sentence 2 was used to ask the listener to get something from someone.

No, Polyester was referring to this sentence he wrote.

I'm very confused.
Please write the full sentence the way you want to write it.

The OP wanted the passive voice, so I wrote the above sentence in my post#7.

Not a teacher.
