    35mm negative

In the above diagram we see the relative size differences between different image sensors. The term "Full Frame" simply means that the image sensor is the same size as 35mm negative.

    Re: 35mm negative

Is it possible that the younger generation do not know the meaning of 'negative' because they have never used a film camera?

    Re: 35mm negative

It could be the case- we had someone trying to describe a typewriter who had never seen one and described it as a kind of printer.
