because of your threat about you staying here indefinitely.

I would like to know if this sentence is correct.

Context: The 1930s. A man threatens the housemaid of a certain house saying that he won't leave until he can talk with her mistress. The lady who owns the house goes downstairs, enters the hall and says (my try):

I have come only because of your threat about you staying here indefinitely.

I think that this sentence sounds a little awkward. Is it possible to give the same idea with other words (or even with less words)?

It's my translation. The original is in Spanish, and it comes from a very old movie.

I have come only because you say you would not otherwise leave.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
