Should or Would for this form

    Hi,
I would like to know the actual firm of "shall" to be used in indirect speech.
    Example:
I said to John," I shall go to the market tomorrow."

    Answer:
I told John that l should go to the market the next day.
    OR
I told John that l would go to the market the next day.

Which one of them is correct.

    Regards

Both are possible grammatically. Only the second one is natural in modern English.
