    do I need 'of' ?

    Hello. I'm not sure which of these sentences is correct. Could you please help?

    1. Using a new database requires restarting the program.
    2. Using a new database requires restarting of the program.

    I think both would be correct if 'the' was added before 'restarting' in #2, but I am not a teacher.
