    Exclamatory Sentence Narration Rule

    Hi,

Could you please explain to me the appropriate prepositions used in narrating an exclamatory sentence?
I found different types of prepositions used ..

    Exclaimed (with / in) joy
Shouted out (with / in) anger
Cried out (with / in) sorrow
    Expressed (with / in) disappointment
Expressed (with / in) grief ... etc..
My question that what should be the appropriate preposition "with" OR "in" ?

    Regards

    Re: Exclamatory Sentence Narration Rule

Both are correct, and the differences are subtle.

'With' is more narrative, telling the reader how the person responded.
'In' is more descriptive, telling how the person felt.

The end emotion expressed is the same, however.
