    If I might . . . I just sent

    Hello,

    *self-made*

1- I just sent an email to the author to see if I might help in some way.

2- I would send an email to the author to see if I might help in some way.

I would like to ask if these two sentences are grammatically OK or not. If sentence 1 is OK, then does it refer to an unreal or real situation?

    Thanks!

Both sentences are OK given the right context.

In sentence 1 the first clause is real; the second is a possibility.
