    I've been told.

Nobody edits with the sentence words yet. I do. I take the sentence word say "the cat sat on the mat, the mat is where the cat sat". I will see the sentence words as syntax and grammar words and not the original grammar words or syntax words. If the sentence makes since to me I will use it. This is the only way I can understand verbs nouns and such. Thoughts?

    Re: I've been told.

My best advice is to simply STOP worrying about verbs and nouns and just think about whether your sentence conveys to the reader the meaning you intend. THEN worry about style. Most natives speakers don't care about the grammar of their own language. They just use it.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
