    " ... - develop, develops, developing ..."?

    1. "Life is like photography – develop from the negatives."
    2. "Life is like photography – develops from the negatives."
    3. "Life is like photography – developing from the negatives."

    To me, #2 and #3 are grammatical English concerning the second part(s?). Aren't they?

    2. is grammatical if you include 'it' - "- it develops from negatives." I'd use a semicolon; that might be the most grammatical, but it might not signal the necessary pause that you intend.
    I don't like 3.

    In fact it's a photograph that develops from negatives, not photography. "Life is like a photograph; it develops from a negative."

    You could use the past tense - "Life is like photography - developed from negatives."
