    had told or told?

    Hello everyone,

    Look, even I had told the cops you had robbed that bank, nobody would have believed me. There had to be proofs.

    Are "had told" and "had robbed" correct in this case?
    Or should I use "told" and "robbed" instead?

    They wanted evidence.
    I presume you meant to write "would not" instead of "would."
