Need help with a phrase, please!

I need help with the part in red. I understand that they place some part of their hair under their pillow, but I have no idea what "a boyish head" and "the salt waves have kissed to death" have to do with it.

    "and sweet-faced young
ones, who place each night beneath their pillow
some lock that once curled on a boyish head that
the salt waves have kissed to death
    , will call me a
    nasty cynical brute".

Can someone translate the whole thing for me, please?

Re: Need help with a phrase, please!

It sounds to me as if the people place a lock (piece) of hair cut from the head of someone else, someone they loved/cared for who died at sea, as a way of remembering them. The writer is going to say something that will annoy those who have lost someone at sea.
