    The rules of have/has

    There's a few things I haven't really grasped and that I usually encounter when writing. It's the basics of have and has that I usually have to rack my brains about. I know I learned the have and has rules when I was like 12 years old, but I probably did'nt pay enough attention back then. Okey so I would really appreciate it if you could help me out. Add to the list...

    I have
    He has
    She has
    They have
    There has (been a problem)

    I did'nt have enough time to finish the project.
    He did'nt have enough time to finish the project.
    She did'nt have...
    They did'nt have...
    There was'nt enough time to finish the project.

    Thanks in advance

    Re: The rules of have/has

    There has to be a way out of here.
    I did'nt have enough time to finish the project.
    He did'nt have enough time to finish the project.
    She didn't have...
    They didn't have...
    There wasn't enough time to finish the project.

    Also, with the verb BE (is, was, are, were),

    EX: There weren't enough people to help out. <plural subject, plural verb>

    But never,

    There have to be ways out of here. <plural subject, plural verb>

    "have" doesn't work like BE.

    Spelling Help
    didn't, not did'nt
    wasn't, not was'nt.

    Note that, the apostrophe (') replaces a vowel:
    didnot => did n't
    wasnot => wasn't

    All the best.

    Thanks I haven't really thought about the apostrophe as being a replacer to a vowel. Now it all makes sense.
