    Passing hard

    Hi,

Not sure if I understand the bold text; can anybody help me?

"It is a volatile drug!" explained my friend; even now I am at work upon it, that I may fix it. But the task is passing hard."

Does the character want to say the task is hard to achieve?

    Aleister Crowley, The Drug, 1909

    Thanks

    Re: Passing hard

Rover, do you use sometimes the word "passing" this way?
Please, correct all my mistakes. I should know English perfectly and if you show me my mistakes I will achieve my dream a little bit faster. A lot of thanks.
