    Comparison containing "as being more...than"

Dear all, I'll be very grateful if someone can help me with this one. I have the following phrase: "The finding that high-nCogn participants, on average, perceived mapping as being more contributive to their PDs than ??? moderate-nCogn ones, further substantiates and can be explained by..." I cannot find in my grammar books or on the web which verb tense to use in the "???" above. ..."than are"? "than were"? simply delete "being"? Other solution?

    Many thanks!

Use "did" because it matches with "perceived."
