When the two parts of a conditional sentence are incompatible, can we say that there is a lack of parallelism or a lack of coherence?

If you were going to be late to the party, why didn't you tell me?
Your original version didn't make sense. The two versions above are what I would expect to hear.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
