    conditional sentence

    Hello everybody.
When the two parts of a conditional sentence are incompatible, can we say that there is a lack of parallelism or a lack of coherence?
    Thank you

    Re: conditional sentence

Example: Were you to be late to the party, why didn't you tell me?
    Thanks again for your answer.

    Re: conditional sentence

That is just nonsense. Nothing more, nothing less.

If you were going to be late to the party, why didn't you tell me?

Your original version didn't make sense. The two versions above are what I would expect to hear.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

Your example sentence has incompatible clauses and therefore lacks coherence. This is not what a lack of parallelism means. Your sentence is a good example of incoherence. Both clauses are good, but they don't cohere.
