I think there is a difference between "get somebody to do something" and "make somebody do something". The latter implies some degree of compulsion. Why is the continuous form.of the verb better than the infinitive?
To me, it just sounds better but I think you are also correct by saying "get somebody to do something". I think Matthew is right about that it isn't a continuous form. It might be a participial phrase or object complement.
