    Using "to" in a sentence

My boyfirend and I were having a discussion the other day. I tried to do some research, but I cannot seem to find anything that would give me a definitive answer.

Is it grammatically incorrect to say "I am going visit my grandparents."
Or, should I say "I am going to visit my grandparents."

I know that "to" should be used if I would say "I am going to my grandparent's house." But, when used between two verbs, I am unsure.
I say both sentences are correct, but he disagrees. He says only the second sentence is correct.

    Please help! Thanks!!

Re: Using "to" in a sentence

In the continuous, you need "to" so your boyfriend is right.

I am going to ... visit my friend.
I am going to ... eat some pie.
I am going to ... use this forum.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    **** I am not a teacher ****

I have only seen without "to" in the following type of sentence. And even this is perhaps just used colloquially and it may not be grammatically correct.

    I am going camping/fishing.

    Those examples are absolutely fine.
