    Go to hospital

Hello, I've got a question. From 'Essential Grammar in Use': 'If you are badly injured in an accident, you go to hospital/are taken to hospital.'

Well, if you're badly injured, how can you go to hospital without the other people's help? In the sentence, 'go to hospital' sounds odd to me.

    Re: Go to hospital

I guess it depends on how you define badly injured. I would agree that you are more likely to need to be taken, but I am sure some badly injured people have got to hospital without help.

There is no need to write a new post to say "Thank you". Simply click on the "Thank" button in the bottom left-hand corner of any post you find helpful. It saves time for everyone.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    Re: Go to hospital

Also, it should be pointed out that there is no contradiction between going somewhere and being taken somewhere.
We say, "I'm going to Paris next week", but we mean "I'm being taken to Paris in a plane next week."
