I'm talking to a friend in person when another friend calls me and asks what we were doing. I say:

He told me that he would introduce me to his mom.

    VS

He told me that he will introduce me to his mom.

Are both okay when said in real time?

Having read the above, I think backshifting is optional in the OP's sentence, but I am not a teacher.

Both are possible. I would usually use 'would', but might use 'will' if I am sure that it's something that will happen.
