    the fist time I will

    Hello,

I know there are lots of topics about 'the first time' and, although I searched for them, I have been feeling confused. Will you please tell me if the sentences below are OK or not.

1- This is the first time I understand this.
2- This is the first time I can understand this.
3- This is the first time I will eat sushi.

I think they sound wrong but I also thinkthat if we put 'will' instead of 'is' in those sentences, they will be OK. Am I right?

    Thanks in advance.

Re: the fist time I will

    I would use the following:

1- This is the first time I have understood this.
2- This is the first time I have been able/managed to understand this.
3- This will be the first time I have eaten sushi.
